If you’re a seasoned corporate event planner or a mom planning a first birthday, we want to make sure the process of booking a face painter is easy and transparent.

If you have any additional questions, contact our office and we’d be happy to help!

How much does face painting cost?

There are a number of factors that determine the cost of hiring a face painter in RI, and unfortunately there’s no way to list prices online because of things like location, time of year, and how many guests you’re expecting.

If you contact our office with information specific to your party, you’ll receive several different quotes at different price points via email. We typically answer emails Monday-Friday 9am-4pm as we entertain at events on evenings and weekends.

How large or small can my event be?

We’ve done birthday parties as small as 2-3 kids and corporate events as large at 10,000.

For small events, because we typically have a time minimum, we’ll send you options for combination packages that include a mix of face painting, balloon twisting, and more.

For larger events, you’ll receive our à la carte pricing so you can determine the number of labor hours you need (and number of artists that will help that come together in your time frame). Typically artists each have a 2hr minimum, but we have accommodated as many as 10 on a single event if needed.

What do I need to prepare for my face painter?

We have a few requirements that will ensure your face painter (and guests) are all ready to go.

  1. A table. This should be a regular-height table (not a high-top bar or child’s tiny table) and a space about 3’x2′. (This is about as large as half a folding table or the size of two school desks.)
  2. Two chairs. These should be free from the table: ideally a folding chair or dining room chair. If it can be avoided, these should not be a picnic table, high bar stool, child’s chair, or camping chair.
  3. Water. Any access to water is fine (a bathroom is perfect), and if you don’t have any potable water at your event, 2 water bottles is enough.
  4. Mindful shade, heat, or climate control. For the safety of face painters and guests, please remember that Rhode Island summers are HOT and winters are COLD! Artists need to be placed in the shade above 70*F and in heated environments under 60*F. If the weather is over 100*F, the client should expect to provide an indoor AC environment. (We’ve had both artists and guests faint in the extreme heat at events, so please take this seriously!)

Meanwhile, we supply:

  1. One professional face painter
  2. All the face paint and supplies needed
  3. Menus of options
  4. Anything else your party requires

If you are having multiple artists at your event, her are some tips:

  1. Artists can share tables, but need 2 chairs each.
  2. Think about where the line will go. (1 shared line for all of the artists is helpful.)
  3. We do not provide large signage, but our office is happy to work with your design team if you want to create large boards.

For all events with more than 2 artists, please discuss the logistical considerations with our office.

What designs do you have? Do you have a menu?

We do have menus! While we don’t share photos of them online (primarily because each artist has their own style), our typical menu is 3 laminated pages with about 60 designs. Artists can also create original designs for guests.

If you have a large event, ask our office for our Speedy Menu: 9 simple (but cool) designs made to move through a line quickly!

Where in RI are you based out of?

We are based out of Cumberland RI! We additionally have offices in Boston MA, Worcester MA, Milford NH, and West Hartford CT, and we service areas of VT and ME.

We’re proud to be a locally-owed New England company!

Will face paint ruin clothing?

Typically it does not. However, certain colors (red, blue, black) will stain certain fabrics (white pure cotton is the worst). If in doubt, book balloon twisting or another creative art form.

Who is coming to my event?

We have a number of face painters who work here and we’re happy to send you their bios upon request. All of them have backgrounds in art or education and almost all of them are women. If you’d like the bio of the artist coming to your event, please let us know at the time of booking.

How do you remove the face paint?

Our face paint is formulated for kids and made in the USA, so whatever you typically use to wash their faces (or remove your own makeup) will work perfectly for getting face paint off.

We recommend using a wash cloth or paper towel instead of putting your kids directly in the bath tub, as face paint runs into the water and can leave a (very temporary) tint on skin.

What ages is face painting for? Is it only for girls?

Face painting is for all ages and genders! Our menus have a mix of designs for everyone, from super heroes and monsters to princesses and animals.

And if you specifically want it for teens, colleges, or adults: ask about our glitter look menus.

What’s in the face paint? Is it safe for kids?

Our face paint is exceptionally safe for children. In our decade+ of work, we have never had a single reaction.

We use a mix of Mehron, Fab, and Tag face paint. They are all vegan, cruelty-free, halal/kosher, contain no common allergens, and are free of most heavy metals.

For downloadable Safety Data Sheets, full lists of allergens, and more click here.

Can you face paint for free or volunteer?

Our artists work as face painters around school and second jobs to pay their student loans, rent, and living expenses.

We receive hundreds of requests for unpaid work every year and as of right now the only events that we are able to accommodate are with existing and paying 501C3 clients who ask for donations beyond their budgets for paying events.

While we wish we could do more, the amount of requests we get is beyond the scope of what we can gift.

Can your face painters come in costume?

Some of our face painters can, yes! Please ask our office for availability and pricing at the time of booking.

Can I have a face painter at my pool party?

Our face paint is gentle on skin and comes of easily…. which means it’ll run off kids’ faces in the pool.

If you’re looking for a water-proof activity we recommend glitter, flash, or airbrush tattoos and/or balloon twisting.

What’s your cancelation policy?

We hold all parties with a 50% deposit (with the rest of your balance due 24 hours before your party).

If you cancel because of illness, problems with the entertainment space, weather, or planning problems, we’ll do our best to transfer your deposit to another date and time within 365 days. However, if we don’t have the availability for your event that works with your schedule, the 50% deposit is non-refundable.

We do not hold raindates as backups due to demand.

If we have to cancel because of extreme weather (typically blizzards but please be mindful that severe flooding and air quality problems are becoming more frequent in Rhode Island) then we will either refund you fully or work with you to move your services to a different date and time within 365 days.

Can I buy face paint from you? Can I throw my event at your space? I’m local to RI.

No. We do not operate a store front, do not operate a event venue, or sell products. Our location in Cumberland, RI is where we hold our offices and do artist training, but we do not operate a store or host private parties there.
